Send a document to be signed
Add the document
Go to Sign and choose one:
- Upload a document: a PDF or a Word file (.docx), up to 25 MB. A Word file is turned into a PDF first.
- Use a template: choose one of your Automette templates and fill in its fields. The finished document is made from them, which uses one render credit.
The document opens in the editor.
Add the people who sign
Under Signers, enter each person's name and email address. Click Add signer for more, or I'm signing too to add yourself.
Everyone signs at the same time unless you tick Sign in order. Then each person is emailed only after the one before them has signed.
Place the fields
Click a signer's card to choose whose fields you are placing; each signer's fields have their own colour. Click a field type, then click on the page where it goes. Drag a field to move it, or drag its corner to resize it.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Signature | Their signature, drawn or typed |
| Initials | Their initials |
| Date signed | The date they sign, filled in for them |
| Name | Their name, filled in for them and editable |
| Text | Anything they type, with an optional label |
| Checkbox | A tick. Turn on Must be ticked to require it |
Every signer needs at least one field. To remove a field, select it and press Delete.
Send
Add a Message if you like; it is included in the email. The certificate of completion goes on the signed PDF's last page unless you untick Add the certificate of completion as the last page. Then click Send for signing.
Your draft saves as you work, so you can leave and come back to it from Sign. To send the same document again later, click Save as a template to send again. See Signing templates.
