Compressing PDFs every day?

Scanned documents, photo reports and brochures are often too big to email. Automette can shrink them as they arrive: call the compress tool from your own code with the Tools API, or add it as a step in a workflow before a file is emailed or saved.

Questions

How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what is in it. PDFs with photos or scanned pages often shrink a lot. A PDF that is mostly text is usually small already, and may hardly change.
Will the text get blurry?
No. Compression shrinks the pictures inside the PDF. Text stays sharp at every setting.
Which setting should I choose?
Balanced suits most uses. Choose Smallest file to email a PDF that people will read on screen, and Print quality when the PDF will be printed.
Is there a size limit?
Each PDF can be up to 25 MB here, and you can compress up to 20 PDFs an hour without an account.
What happens to my file?
It is used only to make the smaller PDF and is deleted about an hour after you upload it.
Can I compress PDFs automatically?
Yes. With a free Automette account you can compress PDFs from your own code through the Tools API, or as a step in a workflow, for example to shrink every scan before it is emailed.
